David Osborne
House Speaker David Osborne of Prospect has served in the Kentucky House of Representatives since 2005, now in his 10th term in office. He was sworn in on January 8, 2019, to serve as the Speaker of the Kentucky House of Representatives and began his third term as Speaker on January 3, 2023.
Speaker Osborne represents the 59th House District, which includes portions of Oldham County. Before being elected Speaker of the House, Osborne served as House Speaker Pro Tempore.
Osborne was a recipient of the 2024 Tough on Crime Award from the Commonwealth’s Attorneys Association; the 2022 Champion for Children Award from the Children’s Alliance; Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky’s Champions for Children Mary Ellen Award; and the Kentuckians for Better Transportation Legislative Mover Award. The Speaker is also a recipient of multiple MVP Awards from the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.
Osborne served as Master of Ceremonies at the 2022 Fancy Farm Picnic and was a delegate to the Key Kentucky Leaders to China Mission, a member of the Special Task Force for Economic Development, and a featured speaker and panelist at several conferences, including the World Trade Center and the International Horse Symposium.
In addition to his role as a lawmaker, Osborne owns and operates Deerfield Farm, a thoroughbred racing and breeding operation in Prospect. He is a member of the Oldham County Chamber of Commerce, Farm Bureau, and the Louisville, Kentucky, and National Associations of Realtors, as well as the Realtors Land Institute. He is also a member of the American Saddlebred Horse Association, Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association, the U.S. Equestrian Federation, and the Kentucky Equine Education Project.
Born and raised in Oldham County, Osborne graduated from Oldham County High School and continued his education at the University of Kentucky, where he graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and Agricultural Economics.
Osborne continues to operate his real estate business of 30 years, specializing in farms and land. He and his wife Lori live in Prospect.
