Scott Alexander

Scott Alexander is a proud, born-and-bred son of eastern Kentucky.  Except for a few years away at college, he’s lived his entire life in Perry County.  He’s a business owner in Hazard, he served in the Kentucky legislature for five years and he is about to begin his third term as Perry County Judge Executive.

During his tenure, one of the most important things he’s done, in his modest opinion, has been to create a grant department.  To date, Perry County has been awarded in excess of $56 million during his two terms and they are always pursuing numerous grant opportunities. He also prioritized the development of Perry County as a tourist destination, allowing it to be selected and recognized as a Trail Town by Kentucky Tourism.  Judge Alexander’s focus has always been to create more opportunities for the citizens of Perry County and his “out-of-the-box” thinking has been instrumental in recruiting businesses and industry to his beloved home county.

In July, much of that county was devastated by flood waters.  Since then, Judge Alexander’s priority has been to assist the Perry County flood survivors in meeting their immediate needs as well as planning for their long term recovery.  Although there is still a tremendous quantity of work to be done, the amount of progress that has been made is nothing short of amazing.

Judge Alexander is “Perry Proud” of the work going on in Perry County and counts himself as fortunate to have the opportunity to serve its citizens for another term.
