Representative Michael Meredith represents the 19th House District in the Kentucky General Assembly, which is comprised of Edmonson County and part of Warren County. First elected in 2010, he is currently serving in his fifth term in the House of Represtatives
A former city councilman in Brownsville, Meredith serves as the Chairman of the House Local Government Committee, which has jurisdiction over matters relating to to the organization, governing, and financing of county and city governments. He is also a member of the House Banking and Insurance Committee and the Small Business and Information Technology Committees
Along with serving as a State Representative, Meredith is also a loan officer at Bank of Edmonson County and is a member of the Edmonson County Lions Club. Meredith is also a Leadership Edmonson County Alumni.
Meredith has spearheaded passage of numerous pieces of important legislation during his time in Frankfort, including measures to provide increased protections and healthcare services for first responders, legislation aimed at lowering the cost of prescription drugs, and the securing of $10.5 million in bonds to construct a much-needed veterans nursing home in southcentral Kentucky. Most recently, Meredith championed legislation to ensure that Kentucky consumers are aware of how the meat they are eating was raised. The legisltion would prohibit cultured animal meat or ‘fake meat’ from being labeled as meat. Instead, it would bear the appropriate label that informs consumers of how it was created.
Meredith graduated from Edmonson County High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Sciene in Business Management from Western Kentucky University. He and his wife Jamie are the proud parents of one-year old Emorie, and reside in Oakland.
